HAND LUGGAGE

The airlines individually determine the amount of hand luggage you can bring in the airplane. Usually, up to 8 kg of hand luggage is allowed, a suitcase with maximum dimensions 115 cm (55x40x20). You can also bring in a smaller purse, laptop, a small camera or a smaller backpack.

Liquids, sharp and flammable objects is forbidden in hand luggage. Allowed maximum amount of liquid is 1l in individual packs each not exceeding 100ml (this regards cosmetics in special travel packs).

CHECKED BAGGAGE

For most flights, you are allowed to check in one piece of baggage weighing 20 to 23 kg for the usual economy class, or two pieces of baggage weighing 32 kg each for business class.

When purchasing the “light” fare, additional fee is charged for checked baggage as it is not included in the ticket price. In addition, dates of such tickets cannot be changed even with surcharge.

Some airlines apply the weight concept, which implies free baggage allowance of up to 30 kg for the Economy Class, or up to 40 kg for Business Class.

CHECK-IN

ONLINE CHECK-IN

Most airlines have introduced the online check-in option on their websites. At this moment, this option is not possible for Montenegro Airlines flights or for shared flights, the so-called “code share” flights.

Air Serbia introduced compulsory online check-in for passengers who purchased tickets with hand luggage only, at the “light” or the “white” fare.  Passengers with such tickets who forget to check in online will be charged an additional fee for the airport check-in. This also applies to all passengers who purchased tickets for flights of low-cost companies, regardless of their baggage – Wizz Air, Ryanair, Easyjet, Norwegian etc.

The online check-in system is usually accessible 24 hours before the flight. In order to access the check-in, you should enter the booking reference from your ticket (a six-character combination of letters and numbers) or the number of e-ticket and passenger’s surname. Passport information is also required. The system guides you in a simple manner to the end of the procedure and seat selection in the airplane or you can skip that step and allow the Company to select a random seat for you. Then, you will be getting the boarding pass to your email address. You should print it and bring it with you.

If you only have hand luggage, you can proceed straight to passport control.

AIRPORT CHECKIN

Online check-in is not compulsory for the passengers with purchased tickets that cover checked baggage, and they can check in at the airline desk at the airport.

You check in the flight with your travel document – passport and visa, if required for the country of your destination. This is when you receive the boarding pass, to board the airplane, with noted gate and seat that was assigned to you. You also receive a baggage tag.

Flight check-in desks are usually open two hours before the flight. Flight check-in is done at the desk of the airline you are traveling with, based on the flight number on your ticket.

Check-in is closed 30 to 60 minutes before the flight, depending on the airline.

Air Serbia has reduced the waiting time. Check-in desks are closed 45 minutes before the scheduled flight, and the gate is closed 20 minutes before the scheduled time of departure.

UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN

Children aged 5 – 12 traveling unaccompanied by adults can travel accompanied by an air-hostess. In airline traffic, this type of passenger is referred to as an unaccompanied minor. When reserving a ticket, you should emphasize it is intended for this type of passenger.

Child accompaniment is charged per route by the airline, and the price varies depending on the airline and the type of flight (domestic, international or intercontinental). If passengers are siblings up to 12 years of age, most airlines charge only one accompaniment. At the parents’ request, the accompaniment service can be also accepted for children over 12 years of age (up to the maximum of 17 years of age)

Reservation for unaccompanied child requires a special procedure and cannot be made via online search. Contact your agent so they can do it for you.

Children must have both parents’ consents on themselves in order to travel abroad. Certificate should be certified by a notary public.

Airlines do not accept accompaniment of children below the age of 5.

PASSENGERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Airlines provide the wheelchair service free of charge, and such service can be provided to persons with reduced mobility, elderly persons and completely immobile persons and visually/hearing impaired persons.

A request for such service should be previously announced to the airline and their confirmation received in order to be sure that you will be actually getting such assistance.

Passengers who are provided with the wheelchair service have no online check-in option, they must appear at the airline desk instead, where airport staff will be waiting for them.
